What is neurobiology?

According to the UNAM, neurobiology is the study of the cells of the nervous system and the organization of these cells into functional circuits that process information and mediate behavior. It is a subdiscipline of both biology and neuroscience. Neurobiology is responsible for understanding the basic biological mechanisms through which the nervous system regulates behavior, as well as investigating how sensory and motor systems interact in perception and movement.
