The space race continues to advance by leaps and bounds. On this occasion, NASA has announced a new project that will mark the way we know the Milky Way until now.

The universe, an infinite space to our human eyes, where everything is located, entire galaxies, solar systems, stars, planets, among many other celestial objects.

Being an extremely extensive terrain that holds mysteries that we do not even know yet, human beings have done everything they have been able to, until now, to reveal everything that this cold and dense void has to tell us.

One of the most famous and successful space institutions is the National Aeronautics and Space Administrationknown by its acronym in English as NASA, which gives us the best in technology and space missions.

Recently, NASA has revealed spectacular information about a new project that is planned for 2027, which will have the most advanced technology to date and will help have a more accurate vision of outer space and everything it contains.

The Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope, that is the name of this new mission announced by NASA. The name was given in honor of Nancy Grace Roman, an astronomer who became one of the first female executives to work at the space institution.

To date, NASA has a fairly extensive number of telescopes, both terrestrial and space-based, but this project plans to leave all of these behind with the technology that is planned to be added.

With quite considerable size, hundreds, perhaps thousands, of filters, a wider field of view, images with hyper-sharp resolutions, capable of seeing stars with infrared and optical light wave, and with the ability to see through cosmic dust, This telescope promises a lot to the scientific community.

All this will be able to be done thanks to a new technology to visualize planets and stars that NASA is already testing, the 'Coronagraph' technology.

The 'Coronagraph', or Coronagraph in Spanish, is, according to NASA, “a multi-layered technology… A system of masks, prisms, detectors and even self-reflecting mirrors built to block the glare of distant stars and directly imagine the planets in orbit around them››.

The technology is already in development, and according to NASA sources, it will be tested for a certain time before the launch of the new telescope. If it works as expected, it will be added to it and launched into space to fulfill its mission.

The main objective of the Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope is to carry out stellar mapping like no other to date, where events such as the formation of stars, their evolution, entire galaxies, among millions of other cosmic objects can be observed, experts say. of the Harvard University.

In the same way, NASA revealed that after exhaustive and long decision-making among the scientific community, it was decided that the first use that will be given to the telescope will be to observe the Milky Way.

The Milky Way is a spiral-shaped galaxy, where our home, the solar system and, therefore, the Earth, is located.

Although this has been done before, it has never been done with such technology that will give us a much broader and clearer vision of the cosmic place where we live.

We only have to wait for the launch date and all the information that this scientific event will bring us. In addition, one more of the great news is that this telescope will be available to the entire scientific community to carry out their studies, according to NASA.
